When I was at the REACTS workshop in Malaga (Spain), I was very lucky to meet Masato Tsukada. He is Senior Principal Researcher of the Information and Media Processing Labs., NEC in Kawasaki, Japan.

During our conversation I mentioned my interest in doing an internship with a Japanese research lab and this led to an actual internship with NEC in Kawasaki (6 month, starting in February 2012).

I am very glad and excited about the internship with NEC and I am looking forward to gaining new knowledge and experiences.

I will report here every now and then.

I finally found the time to update my publication and travel lists.

Dear visitor,

thank you for visiting my website. Unfortunately, I am way behind in updating my website. Please note that the last update in content was more than one year ago.

I am sorry. I am just too busy.

I already finished most of the work. Website should work again now.

My website is at the moment under construction. I am working on some updates.

I will write a message when I am finished.

On the 28th of June I learned that I won the second place at the AIT Scientific Poster Award.

This contest was about producing and presenting a Poster about your scientific work and its economic potential (how to make a product out of it).

I installed a new theme. Therefore, there is some content on my website which is not displayed correctly yet. I am working on it.

Our paper of CIARP 2009 was also invited to be published as an extended version in the journal Pattern Recognition Letters of Elsevier.

I submitted the paper at the 15th of March (yes the same day I participated in Famelab).

On the 15th of March I participated in the preliminary decision of FameLab in Vienna. FameLab allows young scientists to present their work in front of an audience and a committee. First there are several national preliminary decisions and in the end there is an international final at the Cheltenham Science Festival in the UK.

At the preliminary decision in Vienna 4 candidates were selected … together with another woman I was the nominated as a buffer candidate if one of the four candidates gets sick.

Even though I did not reach the national final in Austria it was an interesting and valuable experience for me.

Our paper of CAIP 2009 was invited to a special issue in the Pattern Recognition journal.

Yesterday in the evening we submitted the paper :-) Now we need to be patient and wait for an answer.
